    1. Well as you know, 🙂 I am a student and always learning and experimenting myself still, but this is what I am taught in class: -4 hours out…balanced meal of familiar tried and true foods
      -<4 hours out.. Less protein, fat, fiber
      -<1 hour out… mainly carbs, liquid or semi-solid for nervous stomach.
      So before a workout, 4 or more hours before, a balanced meal should be fine, and then fiber, fat, and protein should not be eaten so much within 4 hours of your workout because those take more time to digest, carbs for the win!! Closer to workout, like within an hour or so, carbs are best, like fruit :)! Then, post-workout, obviously it depends on the kind of workout, but in general the recommendations are a 1:4 ratio of protein to carbohydrates. I accomplish this with a 3-4 banana smoothie and 1-3 cups of spinach with some fresh mint! MMMmmm!! 🙂 Of course you don't have to GO BANANAS like me, a 1.5 banana smoothie with a little bit of spinach and some ice is yummy. ANYWAYS haha back on track, 1:4 is recommended, as far as teaching zumba, it doesn't seem like we do much lifting or body sculpting, so I wonder how much protein is necessary? Always questioning! And don't forget! Bananas do have alive and available amino acids (protein!) In fact, they are abundant in tryptophan, the anti-depressant amino acid! Tryptophan is converted into serotonin- the happy-mood neurotransmitter! So, whole, fresh, raw, ripe, organic, fruits and vegetables is the way to go. Thats where you'll find all your available nutrients and amino acids. Bananas are also even 2-3% fat! Hard to simplify 1:4 ratio, bananas have amino acids, fats, and carbs!
